Bumble Bee Camp and Ride 03-24-07

We went camping near Bumble Bee last weekend in the rain. It was nice to see it cool off again. Who knows this may be our last cool off period for a while. I hope not.

My friends went up Thursday because their kids were off on spring break and we came up Friday afternoon. Later in the day it got real dark and rained quite a bit. It sure is nice to have Toy haulers instead of the tents we used to camp in in the old days. It's kinda nice to sit under the canopy, have an adult beverage and watch it rain.

On Saturday I rejetted my carb and took off on the main road to see how it ran. I didn't plan on going on a trail but I spotted one right next to our camp I have never bee on that went East. What the heck, I need to see where it goes. It was a fun trail that went to the tops of the mountains with a few good rough spots. Near the top I came across a small heard of cows. Most of them moved but one rather large one with big clown stickers just laid right in the middle of the road. I had to go within about 2 feet of him. It didn't move but kept a good eye on me. Then I came to a fork in the road so I took it. Wrong, the one I took dead ended at a tank. So, I went back and took the other fork. I went through 2 gates as the trail turned North. It was quite muddy even though I was going 5 MPH. The trail ended at I17 just South of Sunset Point. I was on a ledge about 20 feet above the road looking at the traffic. The truckers were having a ball blowing their horn and waving at me. On the way back there was the same cow. Once again it did not move.

Later Saturday a couple of us went to the Waterfall to see if it was running. Unfortunately not enough rain yet. My friends were going back to camp so I went exploring for a few hours. I was on the Great Western trail but in this area it dead ended. I tried every side trail but no luck. Oh well it was a fun 50 miles and the scenery was great. Lots of good cloud formations.

After I got back Art and I went for another short ride up into the mountains on some different trails. This whole area is loaded with good trails.

Everyone had a good time hanging around the camp and playing games.
